There are two ways to bring battery power onto your site: an all-in-one hybrid generator, or a BESS power system built from multiple components. Both cut fuel use and noise compared with running diesel alone. The right one depends on your site's size and how much it's likely to grow.
A single unit that combines a diesel engine and a battery in one enclosure. It's the simplest way to bring battery power onto a smaller site, with nothing to connect or set up beyond the generator itself.
A standalone battery that you connect to a diesel generator, solar, or both, rather than a fixed all-in-one unit. Because the battery, generator, and solar skids are separate products, you can size and scale each one to the site, rather than being limited to a single unit's capacity.
Power configurations from United Rentals suit a range of sites and project types:
A solar platform is a solar panel array that mounts directly onto a shipping container, site office, or lunchroom, or deploys on the ground when a container isn't available. Instead of needing a separate panel array installation, you use the panel system already suited to your site, and it feeds power straight into a BESS or hybrid generator. That cuts down how much diesel or mains power the site needs to run everyday facilities like lighting, air conditioning, and appliances.
Each platform delivers up to 2.8 kW, and up to twelve can connect to a single BESS for up to 33.6 kW of total renewable input, so capacity can grow as a site's power needs do.
A BESS stores power from the grid, solar, or a generator and delivers it exactly when it's needed. Paired with a generator, it charges while the generator runs, supplies power during low-demand periods, and restarts the generator automatically when demand increases or energy levels are low.
A hybrid generator combines a smaller diesel engine and battery in one enclosure, up to 44 kVA hybrid package output. A BESS power system uses a standalone 96 kWh battery connected to a diesel generator and up to 12 Solar Platforms, so it scales further and suits bigger or growing sites.
No. It's built to integrate with a BESS or hybrid generator system rather than run independently, so it works best paired with one of those.
Pairing a generator with battery storage or solar can cut fuel use by up to 80%, reduce emissions by up to 50% compared with diesel alone, and cut noise by up to 90%. These are up to figures and will vary by site and configuration.
Yes. It mounts to a standard 20ft container, cabin, or worksite facility, or can be deployed on the ground, so it suits sites with or without a container on hand.
Both. Long-term hire rates are available alongside standard hire terms, and our team can help size the right hire length and configuration for your project.
